Early childhood is defined as the period from conception through eight years of age. The earliest years of a child’s life are critical. These years determine child’s survival and thriving in life, and lay the foundations for her/ his learning and holistic development. It is during the early years that children develop the cognitive, physical, social and emotional skills that they need to succeed in life.
Why Early education?
It has been identified that the early years from 0 to 6 years are the most important time from brain development in humans. It has been proven by experts in all over the world repeatedly that the capacity for a child to absorb concept & learning is the highest during 0 to 6 years of age, so it is necessary to identify areas of development that need to be focused on during these years of the child development and ensure that the same is imparted in an effective manner to the child. That is why, Early education is strongly recommended by the education expert.
At Bright Horizon, we believe holistic learning comprises of 3 components:
Values: Research confirms the importance of the early years to positively influence children in a long-lasting way. The value orientations of children are largely determined by the time they reach the age of formal schooling. The first steps towards a lifetime of peaceful, non-violent activities, of respect for one-self and others, and of appreciation of diversity may be taken during early childhood, as children begin to mature and put into place their cognitive and affective frameworks.
Knowledge: Children’s knowledge is undeniably important. Knowledge is essential for conceptual development and long-term academic achievement. Children who possess greater knowledge exhibit stronger oral language and reading comprehension skills, critical reasoning, and learning across academic content domains. Research has demonstrated that it is crucial to provide children with a strong foundation of content knowledge. Researchers from a variety of disciplines now acknowledge that knowledge acquisition needs to be a primary goal of early childhood education.
Wisdom: Children are confronted daily with opportunities to solve problems and use their own independent judgment. These opportunities , which might involve physical challenges, social relationship issues, or understanding how things work, often seem minor to us but provide great opportunities to practice critical thinking skills. Learning to think critically may be one of the most important skills which today's children will need for the future.
Is to create a learning environment which nurtures creativity, curiosity and diversity of each child and enable them to add value to the global community.
"The right to education is not only the right to attend schools, it is the right to find in schools all that is necessary to the building of a questioning mind and a dynamic moral conscience." - Jean Piaget
We at Bright Horizon believe that each child has unique abilities and their own pace of learning. We follow a curriculum which is based essentially on the Montessori philosophy and approach. To accom-modate individual needs of each child we:
